Some of my favorite
Vegas-style slots that you can play online here at OCV
include themed
Elvis slots, the very popular land-based
Wolf Run slot and both versions of IGT's mega-popular
Cleopatra.
And I shouldn't forget arguably the most popular franchise of alltime, IGT's
Wheel of Fortune slots
which even now in 2013 are the most popular games out there according to a recent study.
Besides those IGT games, I have also put up a selection of other slots from dedicated online casino software
providers like Microgaming and Playtech, some of which easily rival the slot machines you see in Vegas casinos and there
are even a couple of WMS games lurking on the site now.
Unfortunately for
US players though, because IGT do not allow US residents to play their game
for real money right now, they also block fun-play on some - not just here at OCV but anywhere
else for that matter. While this includes games like
the Diamond Queen slot and
Cats, thankfully there are a couple of high profile exceptions: the evergreen
Cleopatra slot and
Pharaohs Fortune games can be played for fun by
everyone here on the
OnlineCasinosVegas.com website.
Those players who
can access IGT's other online slots here at OCV might also want to look out for the
Multiway Xtra slots like
Treasures of Troy or the familiar
Cluedo
and
Monopoly games. Regarding
online-only slot games here, check out the incredibly popular
Thunderstruck slot and what has to be my favorite eye-candy: Playtech's
movie-themed
Gladiator slot (also worth mentioning
Playtech's Mummy slot in
the same breath for that matter). The game-play has expanding scatters too (pinched from Novomatic's very popular cult slot game,
Book Of Ra I'd hazard a guess!), a feature which I have grown to love!
Many of the slots above are exclusive to online casinos although I have seen a 'kiosk' version of some of the Microgaming slot games at a
trade show, so you never know - they may crop up across Nevada yet! It hopefully goes without saying that most of the
IGT Slots
on OCV are online ports of land-based casino games that you probably know already. There are a couple of exceptions like their version
of the
Star Trek slot (based on the movie and not to be confused with WMS's land-based licence) but generally
all the IGT games are online versions of land-based slots.
In addition to all the slot machines, I've added a handful of classic games which you can play by clicking the games in the
panel below. As you may have gathered, card games are not the main focus at OCV but these might provide a break from the routine
and if nothing else, show you how online versions of popular casino games are played. The two video poker games are fun - Spin Poker
is my "game of choice" when I stay in Vegas and Multistrike Video Poker is another game that I love.

The Inspiration Behind OCV
Unsurprisngly perhaps, a trip to the Vegas casinos themselves provided the inspiration for the Online
Casinos Vegas slots site back in 2006. I stayed at the Golden Nugget, downtown, on Fremont Street but I
spent most of my time playing at the Wynn Casino on the Strip and I've since been back in 2009, staying this
time at the excellent Encore Hotel, sister to the Wynn. Being a slots and video poker enthusiast, the Multi-Strike
Video Poker games - along with the two
Cleopatra slots - grabbed most
of my money, so when I got home I decided it would be fun to set up a website featuring free play
versions of popular slots that cross the divide between the casinos of Las Vegas and online casinos.
Las Vegas and Online Casinos
It is worth noting one interesting development when it comes to the topic of Las Vegas and the
perhaps obvious tie-in with the world of online casinos. Until recently, because of murky US
laws, no Vegas casino has wanted to risk the online market. But at the end of 2009 we finally
saw Harrahs taking the plunge, launching the first
Las Vegas
casino online albeit only for the UK market. Whether this will pave the way for more Las Vegas
casinos to follow suit, we shall have to wait and see but as 2011 progresses it's looking likely
to happen at some stage.
As far as the UK goes, all the bookmakers now have an online casino and a number of slot
games that you find over here, such as the popular
Kitty Glitter slot
are now available at several of these. You will see a list of who has what on each slot game page.
...and finally
So the OCV website is my shrine to the slots of Vegas! All the games on the site can be played for free
here with no download and no registration requirement. I should extend my thanks to
IGT for agreeing to allow me to hack in and include some of their
online slot games in free-play mode for you to enjoy. I'm also hoping that
WMS do the same at
some point as I'd love to bring you some of the popular WMS slot games now that they have started
to bring them online through their
Jackpot Party site (but it
is UK only right now though).
I hope you enjoy the slots here at OCV
and don't forget to bookmark the site (or better still, sign up to the newswire) to catch up with new
Vegas slots as they come online. To wrap up, if you are looking for a selection of online casinos to
play then I'd recommend the
online casino guide
over at
G&C which is a long established site with lots of information on slots and casinos.
