The DaVinci Diamonds slot breaks the mould and uses a novel "Gems" style
delivery with the reels cascading into place. IGT call this concept "Tumbling Reels"
and have actually started to introduce it into other slot games. How this works is
that when you get a winning spin, the winning symbols explode and the reels drop to potentially reveal further
wins - a feature since adopted by Microgaming on their
Tomb Raider 2 slot. There is a free spins bonus on the
DaVinci Diamonds slot, triggered by getting the 3 bonus symbols on Reels 1, 2 and 3 on a payline but you only
get 6 free spins (or "tumbles" would be more accurate I guess!). And like many IGT slots, Da Vinci Diamonds
is a fairly high variance (high risk) so expect some mean streaks! That said, if you can budget properly
and ride out the lean periods, the online version of the Davinci Diamonds slot has an expected return of
94.93% at the casinos listed in the grid above.
Watch out too for IGT's "Davinci Diamonds Dual Play" slot which arrived online at the end of September 2011.
It's an interesting take on the original, with two seperate Davinchi screens combining to provide extra paylines
in the free spin bonus.
If you like the "tumbling reels" type of slot game then there are two more slots that I would draw your
attention two. The first one, which unfortunately I don't have here at Casinos Vegas, is
called "Dungeons & Dragons Crystal Caverns" which, like Davinci Diamonds, is a Wagerworks/IGT slot with a similar theme
to Dungeons & Dragons Fortress of Fortune. The second slot
isn't actually a tumbling reels slot in regular play, but it does have a free spins bonus which uses the
same concept. This is the excellent Thunderstruck II slot which you
can play here at OCV. Those are the only online slots at OCV with the tumbling reels concept though.
