Jungle Wild mainly seems to find its online fan-base from slots players who have spent time on it in their local land casino. Since, 2011 we’ve had an online version of the game and it’s consistently still a top slot in both free to play and cash mode. There’s nothing dramatic about the game, this is a pretty stock 5x3 reel video slot with a free spins round in the end. It does have a fairly benign theme, good graphics and audio which appeals to a broad variety of tastes. What I think draws people in is the higher level of variance over many generic slot and the ease of play.
With 30 adjustable pay-lines and a bet range of 0.30 to 90.00 credits there’s more than enough variety here to suit the bankrolls of pretty much every player. In many ways Jungle Wild fills the fruit machine niche, higher volatility, simple playstyle, easy to follow. It’s just a little more entertaining than stock fruit machines such as Double Diamond. A crossover slot then, one which can appeal to the traditional fans of both fruit machines and the modern video slot.
Though the theme may be a little bland, the high RTP and the gambling action on the game is far from it. The combination here is very popular, so much so that WMS cloned the game on ‘Magic Wand’ to provide a little theme variety to those who don’t like the jungle vibe.
The wins are largely found in the three highest paying symbols, the wild and the two gold coins which look remarkably like the symbols from Sun & Moon! The hit ratio on the lower pay icons seems high, making it easy to miss that it’s rare for even 4 of a kind on many of the low pay icons to grant you much more than 3-4x your total bet. It’s this discrepancy or gap between the low and high pay icons which allows the game to offer such big rewards with a high RTP.
The free spins bonus round on the game is 5,7 or 20 free spins. The action hot’s up at this point as each spin two reels will randomly turn fuly wild. You don’t need to be a slot strategist to see that this is where the serious win potential is on the game, especially with the re-trigger available.
Overall Jungle Wild tries to compensate players for long periods of play without a feature or big win by providing regular small wins in the base game. Whilst that might fool novice players, experienced gamblers will realise this is, in a way, artificially increasing the RTP in the most meaningful sense. It’s all very well winning regularly, but if you aren’t even returning your total bet, you aren’t making a profit! For me Raging Rhino offers more profit potential and even if the Jungle Wild slot’s draw was its theme, it couldn’t compete with big branded slots like Guns N Roses. That won’t damage its popularity as there will be plenty of nostalgia from the casino floor and, the game does have big win potential, just less than the stats might suggest.
