Amendments delay anticipated vote

Thursday's scheduled New Jersey House of Assembly vote on whether to permit "on-premises" betting in Atlantic City via hand held devices was postponed until next Monday, bedevilled by amendments and the need for lawmakers to consider these before casting their votes.

One of the amendments calls for the exclusion of casino parking garages from the definition of 'on-premises'.

The measure is one of several liberalising laws currently progressing through the New Jersey Legislature, including the legalisation of online gambling and sports betting.
