Titanic was the biggest film of all time upon release and, nearly twenty years later, it’s still right up there, as a result, this was always going to be one of the biggest branded slots out there and it fell to Bally and the SG interactive group to handle it. They have developed some big game ideas before, the Kiss Slot, Bruce Lee and the Wizard of Oz games are all monsters of pop culture after all, though these were developed under the WMS brand, it’s the same parent company. No game though, had the time and resources invested in it that the Titanic slot did, it’s dominated casino floors since its release and it is without a doubt one of the most coherent use of theme integration in a slot game.

Before play starts you must choose a ‘ticket’ on the boat, 1st, 2nd or 3rd class, each has a corresponding playstyle. First Class tickets are 2.00 credits and above, this includes a bonus bet of x15 your stake per line, enables all bonus features and opens up all three jackpots on the game. Second class tickets are bets of 0.80, 1.20 and 1.60 and include the same x15 stake bonus, all features are active but this level excludes the top jackpot, the two smaller ones remain open. Third class tickets have only one bet available – 0.35 credits, a smaller bonus bet of x10 stake per line is given, all features are enabled but the top and mystery jackpots are removed, that’s just the betting explained…..

Given the features are available at all bet levels, although Bally are clearly trying to bias this towards players not playing minimum bet by excluding the top jackpot, it is still very viable even at the lowest bet level. This is rather important too, as with many official slot titles the variance is a little on the low side, it’s not as weak as you might imagine, somewhere between low and medium, but definitely way down on a more traditional Bally Slot like Hot Shot. Those features by the way, there seems to be dozens of them, and that’s without traditional wilds and the stake multiplier in play, given they all contain symbols from the movie, video scenes and voice overs, there’s plenty of entertainment on offer throughout play.

Overall the Titanic slot manages to strike a really great balance, it has improved volatility over many other branded slot games and can appease the gamblers, whilst still providing masses of entertainment for the hobby player. It seemed to take an absolute age for Bally to get this out there online, I assume due to the complexity of the game and the myriad of bonus features. It’s out now though and available as both a free to play slot emulator and a real cash machine too at selected casinos, you’ll find our recommendations of the best right here on the site!
