If you open the Coyote Moon slot and it looks familiar, I know two things about you, first you are an IGT fan and second, one of your most played games is the Wolf Run slot game. I know this not because I’m physic, but because Coyote Moon is a direct clone of that slot, lock stock and barrel. I mean, even the theme and symbols are very closely related given the canine and western wildlife overtones. Of course, being a copy of Wolf Run isn’t actually a bad things, it’s one of IGT’s most popular slot titles of all time after all.

If you are new to the game, what you get is a 5x4 reel slot with 40 pay-lines, you can adjust these to suit your playstyle as they aren’t fixed and you get a very wide bet range of 1-2000 credits in the online version of the slot. The original land casino game gives you a little less room typically depending on the game settings in different casinos. When the game was released as an online slot it was also treated to a bit of a graphics renewal, the symbols and audio haven’t changed but they have been sharpened and it doesn’t have quite the same dated feel as the physical machine does sometimes.

Given I’ve possibly not been very complimentary so far, you might be forgiven for wondering what, aside from the theme, makes this such a popular game. The answer is in the bonus free spins games, not only do they come with a multiplier, but they are well known for huge sequences of re-triggers – which is why IGT actually set a limit of 255 you can win. That’s quite a number of spins though, I admit, over 200 isn’t going to happen very often, it’s the bonus round of a lifetime when it does. Many players have experienced this over the years and it has become a sort of slot gaming legend, in the process it elevates what is quite a bland game for this generation into something you just want to play one more spin in, just in case.

Coyote Moon might not have the entertaining game play of the Family Guy slot, or even the big theme of the Battleship slot but it just doesn’t matter. Everything on the game is really just enough, apart from that spins round, which is one of the best possible available on any game in the IGT catalogue. A free to play emulator also exists but I would only play this game for cash, imagine hitting a 255 spin retrigger – when you didn’t have a cash bet in play?
